Onion Syrup for Immunity

It is always worth to care about your immune system, not only while coronavirus pandemonium. Onion Syrup for Immunity will help you to stay healthy, strong and not to get ill. In my family it is a first help for my children while first moments of cough. And surprisingly- they like its taste!

Recipe is easy, there are only two ingredients. Onion is widely available all over the world and is a source of taste in many culinary dishes. Onion is also very healthy, as it has a strong antibacterial effect, it contains vitamin C, magnesium, silicon and zinc for immunity boost. It’s not only folk medicine, it really works.

Remember, if you are sick you need to contact your doctor. Do not ignore fever and other flu symptoms. Onion Syrup will help you not to get sick, but if you do – you need professional medical advice.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 onions
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar

Peel the onions. Dice them carelessly into medium pieces. Place onion in the jar. Add sugar. Cover the jar with a lid. Shake the jar well. Set aside.

It needs several hours for juices to come out, the best it to leave it over night. The next day drain the juices through the gauze and keep it in the fridge. Store it for up to 10 days.

We usually give 1 teaspoon of Onion Syrup for immunity to children 2-3 times a day.

      1. My mother-in-law is from Gdynia and every time the kids went round hers in winter she would give them this onion syrup.

This winter I made it myself each week and we have it few times a day. Kids love it and remind me to take it too.
So far we’ve all been well and we are surrounded by people with this flu/sick bug.

      1. Hi Ann, what information are you looking for? What Jojo asked was added to the article: “It needs several hours for juices to come out, the best it to leave it over night. The next day drain the juices through the gauze and keep it in the fridge. Store it for up to 10 days.”
Please let me know if anything is missing.

For us kids, it was a full tablespoon. Soon followed by an equal amount of Cod Liver Oil. (We tried, very hard, NOT to get sick, if for nothing else than these two things.)

  1. Thank you for this.
My father was polish and I love collecting authentic polish recipes

  2. Hi. Very good. I have a friend who produces fried onion vacuum. He wants to drink onion juice from it. If you can give me a tip or composition, thank you.

  3. I have been using this since high school having been introduced to it on a trip to Krakow. I add in garlic too. It works wonders every time. So glad to see it on here. Love the other recipes too!

  4. This is an old family recipe that my great grandma gave to my grandma and then my mom and then she gave it to me when I was sick. I have since passed it down to my son and hopefully he will give to his daughter. This is the best medicine when you start getting a cold. If I had a choice between Robitussin or onion syrup I would pick onion syrup hands down every time.
