Chocolate Babka is one of the most classic and beloved pastries in Polish cuisine. Its moist interior and rich cocoa flavor make it perfect for both family celebrations and everyday afternoon treats. In below recipe, I’ll show you how to easily prepare this aromatic Chocolate Babka, step by step, so you can enjoy the taste of traditional Polish sweetness in the comfort of your own home. Ready for a culinary journey full of chocolate delight? Let’s get started!
Ingredients
- 150 g chocolate (in Poland it’s one and half bar of chocolate. You can use chocolate chips too)
- 160 g butter (6 oz, one and half stick)
- 200 g flour ( 7 oz)
- 6 heaping tablespoons sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon cocoa
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, let it cool.
Beat the butter with sugar until fluffy. Add one egg at a time, continuously beating. Finally, pour in the melted chocolate and mix all.
In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder, and cocoa, then add to the batter. Stir everything thoroughly with spatula. Pour the batter into a buttered babka pan. Bake for about 40 minutes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius.
Once baked and cooled, drizzle the cake with melted chocolate or like me: sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Smacznego!
